We have created an itinerary, that can be tailor-made to your needs, of course!
Herend – Tihany Peninsula – Badacsony – Hévíz
The recommended departure time from Budapest is 9:00 am.
From Budapest we leave for Herend, that is located not far from the Lake Balaton. The largest factory of hand-painted porcelain in the world is definitely worth a stop. Enjoy a (ca. 40-minute) guided visit of the Minimanufactory in the performance of a professional local guide.
You will have some free time to shop and drink coffee out of real porcelain cups.
After the visit of the Manufactury we continue the tour and arrive at the Tihany Peninsula. The whole Peninsula is not only a historical district but it is rich in natural values, too. The Benedictine Abbey dating from 1055 AD is the symbol of Tihany. Enjoy the charming atmosphere of this little town and see the fascinating panorama of the Lake Balaton.
Take a short walk through Tihany village, stopping at folk art shops. You will then sit down to enjoy a 3-course lunch at a local “Csárda,” a traditional, rustic style restaurant.
On the way to the world-famous town Hévíz, we stop in Badacsony that is the centre of the Badacsony wine region. This area is recognized for its fine wines. It is worth a stop. And a taste!
Soon you arrive in Hévíz, where you can check-in to your hotel. We will provide you with free time for the rest of the evening.
Hévíz – Keszthely – Budapest
In the morning after breakfast you will have the opportunity to enjoy the Lake Hévíz, that is the largest biologically-active natural thermal lake in the world.
The source of the 4.4 ha water surface lake, rich in sulphur, radium and minerals, can be found 38 metres deep in the cave, which due to its high well capacity completely changes in every 48 hours.
We then leave for Keszthely and visit the beautiful Baroque Festetics Castle. Take a walk in its beautiful park before having lunch in one of the atmospharic restaurants of Keszthely!
After two wonderful days you will be transferred back to your hotel of Budapest.
