1st day

Gödöllő – Hollókő – Eger

The recommended departure time from Budapest is 9:30 am.

The first sight will be one of the most interesting and amazing place of your tour. After about 30 minutes drive from Budapest you arrive at the Royal Castle of Gödöllő that was the former Summer Residence of Queen Elisabeth (Sisi). The 26 renovated rooms of the baroque palace and its huge park are absolutely worth seeing!

Discover the secrets of the Palace and try to fly back in time for an hour! You will hear about the history of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the life of Sisi!

After the interior visit we wish to invite you for a coffee and cake in the first-class Café of the Palace.

Our next stop will be a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the picturesque village Hollókő, where tradition live on!

See the 58 protected buildings of the central area of the village that are especially well-preserved masterpieces of 17th-Century vernacular architecture. Enjoy a beautiful view from the ruins of the Hollók? Castle –dating from the 13th Century.

You will also enjoy some delicious Hungarian peasant food to round off your journey back in time, and to a place where people feel more connected to the land.

We then drive you to Eger, that is one of the most charming towns of Hungary. We will top the day off with a fine wine-tasting and great Hungarian food in an excellent winery of the ’Valley of the Beautiful Women’.

Before the wine-tasting and the dinner you can check-in to your hotel and we will provide you with some free time to refresh yourself.

At the end of the day we will transfer you back to your hotel.
